Getting started with your Digital SLR (Single Lens Reflex) Camera

 

This class is designed for students who are new to using a DSLR camera. Principles of exposure will be explained by learning Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO. The different shooting modes available on the camera will be introduced. Other topics will include using the built-in flash, lens selection and focusing, and composition techniques. Practical examples will be used to help illustrate the topics being covered. Please bring your gear and questions as there will be time during the class to answer questions you may have in regards to using your DSLR camera. If you have the manual for your DSLR please bring it with you to class as well.

 

Cost: $49.99 plus tax, One 3 hour session.

Advanced Techniques with your Digital SLR (Single Lens Reflex) Camera

 

This class further explores how Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO all tie together as the Exposure Triangle. You will learn how to effectively use these settings to manually control exposure in your camera, control Depth of Field and control Motion. You will learn advanced focusing techniques, how to shoot actions shots, and how to use the built in light meter in your camera to get good exposures.

How To Shoot, Edit and Share pictures with your Smartphone

 

It is now possible to take good photos with your Smartphone. We will teach you how to Shoot, Edit, and Share photos using the camera that is built into your Smartphone We will cover how to download and use some of the popular photo "Apps" available for the iPhone and Android based smartphones. Using these Apps you will learn how to SHOOT pictures, EDIT the photo, and then SHARE the photo.

Canon DSLR Quick Start Class 

 

Do you own a Canon DSLR and struggle to understand what all of the the buttons, dials, and menus mean and how you're supposed to use them?

 

If you just had somebody explain to you in plain English what all those buttons are for, you could start taking betting pictures with your camera in no time at all. The goal of this class is to get you comfortable using your DSLR so you can get out of "Auto" mode. In this two hour Quick Start class we will teach you the most important features that you need to know to take better pictures. This class is completely hands on and we will show you what each button, dial, and most menu items are used for and how to control them.

 

Here is brief list of the topics we'll cover in the class: Mode Dial (Auto, P,Tv,Av,M) ISO button (very important) Auto Focusing (AF) buttons and modes Flash button Speed Dial(s) Exposure Compensation button Live View button Playback buttons Menu items (Resolution, Date & Time, Format, etc...) This class is limited to 7 students so we can make sure each student understands the concepts being presented. You may ask questions during the class if a topic is not making sense or you need further explanation.

 

Make sure to bring your camera with the battery fully charged (having a backup battery is a good idea) and bring along your camera manual if you have it. Feel free to bring along any additional questions you have about your camera. The instructor is always glad to help if he can. Our instructor, Dave "D3" Neff, is a passionate nature and landscape photographer that has been teaching photography for over 13 years. His fun and practical approach to teaching will help you learn how to use your Canon DSLR in no time at all.
