INTRODUCTION TO HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE (HDR) PHOTOGRAPHY
The biggest challenge in photography has always been capturing the range of what the human eye can see in one single exposure. Prior to digital photography this was very hard if not impossible to do on a single frame of film. Now we are able to use our digital cameras and specialized software programs to combine the best parts of several exposures to create one image that mimics what the eye can see. This two-session class we will explore the following:

INTRODUCTION TO DIGITAL CAMERAS FOR POINT-AND-SHOOT'S (Beginners)
This class is especially helpful for people who are just getting started in digital photography. Focus will be on digital point-and-shoot cameras covering basic camera operation as well as digital photo concepts like flash and composition. INTRODUCTION TO PICASA
Picasa is a free photo-editing application by Google that for simple editing and organizing. This is a Hand-On class. No need to bring your lap top computer as we will provide everything needed for the class. Learn the basics, including how to import photos from your camera or computer and see how easy it is to get organized. Picasa is handy for cropping photos to a specific size, fixing red eyes, and applying effects to your photos. Students should already be familiar with basic computer concepts.

“Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve Nature Photography”
Join us for a two hour photo walk of the Six Mile Cypress Slough where we will explore the many photo opportunities that await you at this beautiful Lee County park. We will start the day with a short discussion on tips and techniques for taking better nature photos and the use of pattern, texture, and composition for creating visually interesting nature photographs. The instructor will be available to answer questions and help students with different camera settings that will make your “snapshots” into great “images”. A brief introduction to HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography will be presented along with examples to see just how powerful this new photographic technique is to take your picture taking to the next level.
Students should bring their camera, manual, and a fully charged battery along with any accessories (filters tripod, etc.).
Field trip is limited to 15 students and must be prepaid to reserve a spot. The fee for this unique photo walk is $20.00. “Exploring Downtown Fort Myers Photo Walk”
Join us for a two hour photo walk through beautiful downtown river district in Fort Myers. There will be a short discussion on using lines as well as repeating patterns and color before we head out to explore the streets and alleys for great images. The instructor will be available to answer questions and help with camera settings throughout the walk. There will be a surprise “photo theme” for the day.
Students should bring their camera, manual, and a fully charged battery along with any accessories (filters tripod, etc.). Field trip is limited to 15 students and must be prepaid to reserve a spot. “Butterfly Estates Downtown Fort Myers”
Join us for a two hour tour of the Butterfly Estates in downtown Fort Myers. We will explore the beauty of these little creatures in their environment. A brief discussion will be presented on using the camera’s aperture to control “Depth of Field”, shutter speed to control motion and, ISO settings to alleviate exposure problems. The instructor will be available throughout tour to answer questions and help with camera settings. “Night Photography in Downtown Fort Myers”
If you have ever tried your hand at taking pictures at night you probably already know how tricky this type of photography can be. In this two hour class held at the water basin in the downtown Fort Myers we will give you all the information, tips, and tricks you will need to take better pictures at night. The first hour of the class will be spent teaching you the techniques you need to know for adjusting your camera’s settings and also the accessories you will want to have for better night time photography. The second half of the class will be spent taking pictures with your camera with the instructor right along side of you to help with camera settings and composition techniques.
**Although not required, it is recommended that your camera has the ability to shoot in a Manual mode so that you can adjust the Aperture and Shutter Speed on the camera. Some Point & Shoot cameras DO NOT have this ability. All DSLR cameras DO have these settings. A tripod is also highly recommended for this class.
